Antique collectors are a cagey lot. So when Jason Chapman did the show circuit following in his parents footsteps he discovered greed and deception are part of the game. He played for a while until the tide turned on him.

Jason Chapman recently retired from the Merchant Marines decides to follow in his parents footsteps by traveling the antique road show circuit as he did with them as a child. Having left him a fair collection of dolls and toys to start with, he soon discovers the value of one in particular. He also recalled how his father was once duped by an unsavoury collector and vowed to not let any of them get the better of him, in fact he had a plan to retaliate. Like all plans however the unforeseen can happen.

Mystery author John Russo, THE ANTIQUE TOY CON has given his reading fans a deliciously short, cleverly convoluted read that proves no matter how good a con -artist you are, there's always someone better at the con...and the worst that can happen, is you think you're so smart, you end up conning yourself.

In this short story there are moments when you sorta want to cheer for the guy with the toys, especially when you learn his motivation...but it's hard.

John Russo creates the perfect circle of underhanded design and people with the creme of con-artists skills under their belts to play the game, and then watch them get taken. I loved, loved, loved this book, and thought of a few people I'd like to see thrown into the circle John Russo created. But I digress.

THE ANTIQUE TOY CON Five cunning stars I happily award this wickedly cunning short story, and send out a plea to Mr. Russo...MORE???? PLEASE???
