HOT OFF THE PRESS

Noelle Alladania Meade

Noelle usually has several irons in the fire at any given time. Her husband claims she doesn’t know how to relax. Favorite activities include reading, writing, gaming, yarn crafts, making jewelry, drawing, and painting. She runs two online shops to sell her crafts. And she probably spends too much time arguing with people on the internet.

Life took a turn for the quirky in 2000 when she had her daughter, who turned out to have autism. Because of this she met many wonderful people that she would never have otherwise encountered.

As a child, Noelle’s ambition was to be the first woman president of the United States. She is still acutely interested in politics, especially in the ways they affect people’s daily lives, but recovered from the insanity of wanting to run for office.

After 24 years working for a small software company, and working from home for 14 years, she is happy to work in an office again with other grown-ups. Her new technical position gives her the intellectual challenge she craves and the opportunity to serve the public in her state.

The world has settled down remarkably well in the wake of the Change that turned a full third of the Human population into Elves, Dwarves, Trolls and more. That part is easy. The rest of her life is as chaotic as ever. Her relationships are up in the air, Mikah’sparents have arrived—doing their level best to disrupt everyone’s lives—and on top of all that, Olivia just might be expecting.

Who—or what—is behind the growing disruption at the arsenal? If Olivia doesn’t want to end up a sacrifice in a fiery ritual, she’d better figure it out.

After battling mutant slime creatures, eco-terrorists, and a ruthless mage bent on making her the guest of honor at a human sacrifice, Olivia Mitchell was looking forward to a nice, long, all-expenses-paid vacation in southern California.  Frank is busy training for his role in the latest Warblade venture – a really series called Dungeon Raiders. While Frank learns the skills he’ll need for the show, it’s time for Olivia to decide what she wants to do with her new life.

Olivia planned to relax, do a little artwork, and bask in the glow of expectant motherhood. She forgot that a ‘trouble magnet’ doesn’t have an off switch and relaxing isn’t in her genes. With the help of a powerful mentor, Olivia is taking her magic skills to another level – studying harder than she ever did in college. At the same time a mysterious gallery owner promises to bring Olivia’s artwork to a new audience. It would be fame beyond her wildest dreams – if she’s willing to pay the price.

Television cameras attract all manner of crazy.  Olivia wasn’t prepared to obsessed fans, and she didn’t expect the crazy team politics or would-be romantic rivals. Add a doctor with the world’s worst bedside manner and Olivia's life behind the scenes far more dramatic than anything that's actually part of the show. The chaos also cloaks a very real threat: a twisted mage from another world, intent on putting Olivia and her children on display in his personal menagerie.

It's time for Olivia to get her Mommy Rage on - and this time, she's killing for three.

We never know why evil comes to call, but sometimes answers aren’t that important…

Practice is over. Dungeon Raiders goes live, and the contestants take the field. They are the chosen ones, living out every gamer’s secret fantasy—until the danger becomes real. The foes in front of the camera aren’t half as dangerous as the ones behind the scenes. Beyond the fantasy competition, real monsters, the Human kind, await their time to strike.

An off-world wizard thinks to make Olivia his pawn. Competing players scheme to steal Frank’s heart from her, and a disgruntled saboteur’s attacks endanger the lives of all the cast members. It’s not Olivia’s fault that craziness and mayhem follow in her wake; a trouble magnet draws them in like fog-bound ships to sirens. But Olivia’s enemies will learn the hard way what she’ll do to protect her family. She doesn’t play Chess; she plays War, and when she raid kicks, she means it.

Playing adventurer is all fun and games until someone loses their head.

“What I learned on my ‘vacation’ to the Brazilian Amazon” by Olivia Mitchell Byers.

-        Most things are bitey.

-        Jungles don’t have room service.

-        Dinosaurs are mostly jerks.

-        So are headhunters.

-        Corruption is universal.

-        And they don’t speak Spanish here. Who knew?

“Okay, to be fair,”

-        The food was great.

-        The jungle was absolutely gorgeous.

-        You never know where you’ll find a new friend.

-        People can change.

My arrival triggers the perfect storm of simmering rivalries, vengeful headhunters, and deadly poachers – all while I’m escorting the youngest son of her powerful mentor, Aerin. What could possibly go wrong? What didn’t?
