What if you were told you had to abandon your home, your friends, your loved ones,   your career,  your money, your dreams, and most importantly, your life? And not only  temporarily but indefinitely? An impossible scenario that no scientist can properly explain happens in the year 2015ad. A phenomenon. A scientific theory never thought possible could ever come to pass. Humankind undergoes a procedure that no man, woman or child can ever prepare for.

A story of science, history and fantasy will bring two worlds together to help keep balance, freedom and survival from falling apart. One world where science fails them and one world where epidemics surface when rules are broken.

In a state of pure desperation, the never ending black sky is life’s last search for survival…

Excerpt:

Location: Earth II

White House

Year: 2021AD

Commotion strung up in the conference room early that day. As if playing musical chairs, the reporters scrounged the packed room for their seats and started gossiping about the situation amongst each other. Their loud voices echoed in the room, yet became silent as the Vice President of the United States entered and stood at the podium.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” she slowly began, squinting for every flash each cameraman blinded her with. “Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention? I am Barbara Haze speaking to you from the White House.” As the obvious was said, the crowd became quiet. She lowered her voice and kept her pace slow, making sure to pronounce each word carefully for the world to understand.

“The time has arrived, my fellow Americans. The time for Man’s departure. For almost six years our scientists have searched the endless sky for help. With today’s technology, they have gathered enough information to save our species from extinction.” The group of reporters remained silent as Barbara Haze took a pause.

“As the world is watching me on live broadcast, I am asking you all today to spend whatever time we have left with your families. Your concerns don’t go unnoticed and I want you all to understand, that our existence will go on!” As her statement came to an end the crowd resumed their rowdiness.

“Madam Vice! Madam Vice!” They all shouted at once, like a united and amplified voice.

“Yes.” She indicated to the gentleman waving his arms wildly in the middle row.

“Exactly how much time do we have left?”

The Vice President hesitated. She pondered her thoughts for a brief moment, straightening her spine and fixed the glasses gently on her nose.

“Scientists conclude the sun will enter our destruction point in exactly two years from today.”

“What? No!” They exclaimed with great surprise.

“Please remain calm!”

“Calm? What if we chose not to go? What if we all want to stay?”

Every individual present in the conference room focused on her. Blinded by the repetitive flashes, the deep penetrating stare was no longer bearable. Before responding, she took one last look above the heads of the impatient reporters. She removed her eyeglasses and kept the asserted look in her body language.

“Then God help us all. Life will be terminated. Whatever life and beauty this planet had to offer will be gone. Man will be extinct!”

Reviews: Ahtabat: Man's Extinction is a wide-sweeping, epic novel combining science fiction with fantasy. The breadth of the story spans thousands of years, two planets, one on the brink of destruction the other nearing global war. The undertaking is huge and I credit the author's hard work with the world building.

I absolutely loved the way the book flipped back and forth from earth to Ahtabat, connecting the events from the cave man and his finding to the present, and how a whole other world evolved because of this event.

OUR READERS REVIEWS:

Elixir is fantasy at its best. Katie Caroll draws us into her world with ease, her well-polished writing style and flow holding us captive until the end. I especially liked the relationship between Katora and her sister Kylene, obviously drawn from real life. I can't wait to read the sequel.

GOODREADS READER REVIEW

I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this very charming and witty book to read on the skytrain. But I have to say it was kind of embarrassing. I couldn't stop giggling out loud at Maggie Lyon's humour. People kept looking at me, and I tried my hardest to hold in the laughter, but it was impossible. What a delightful story! What child wouldn't love this. It's a story for 6-10 year olds. It's a great book to read to your children when they're young or by themselves when they're older. If your child likes Geronimo Stilton, they'll fall in love with Dewie the little dragon and his friend Jones the toad. I hope Maggie Lyons will turn this into a series.

Joy Smith pulled me into the story on the very first pages. Fast moving, first I hated Victor, than I love him, than I hated until I loved him. And Marisol with her guarded heart had me hoping throughout that she'd open it again to love.

I loved her descriptions. They created such visuals, I felt I was traveling and discovering Colombia with Victor.

Ms. Smith writes believable, flawed characters that I wound up cheering and caring for on each page. I can't wait to read her next book. Goodreads Reader Review - Five Stars

"...murder, mystery and intrigue..plus did I mention our hero is a witch? Tex and his best friend Olivia are brilliant characters, really well written and I love tex's dad. Can't wait to read more about tex in the future! -Amazon Reader Review

I really enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot of this novel. From Annabelle putting her life in danger when running away from Boarding School where she has lived since the age of five to her tenacious pursuit in finding clues as to her origins.

She is rescued by Roland, who is too much of a gentleman not to help the intriguing young lady. I relished the suspense of the reciprocal desire between Roland and Belle which is thwarted by misunderstanding after misunderstanding and prevents them achieving mutual fulfilment. The reader yearns for the truth to replace the false pretences and for Roland and Belle to overcome each other's prejudices.
Rosemary Morris' major and minor characters spring to life. I sympathised with Annabelle and found Roland charming. Apart from this, Rosemary's great attention to every aspect of the Regency era is impressive.

False Pretences is a ripping read and I look forward to reading this author's next novel. - F.Way- Amazon Review
