He certainly didn't seem the type, though if truth be told he didn't seem any type, just plain, boring and unassuming. He glanced at her and frowned, the look in his eyes frosty and guarded. “Strange, I never figured you for the intelligent type either.” Maybe he wasn't as dull as she first thought. “That is typical of your gender I suppose. Men always underestimate a lady. Rest assured, my lord, we are not all swooning, confections of lace and ruffles, you know. Some of us actually have intellect.” She bit her lip, not meaning it to come across quite as sarcastic as it sounded. With a shrug he crossed the room and picked up another crate. Alex finished sorting the pile then tossed the parts she wanted to take in another one. After nailing the lid in place she began to scoop the undesirable pieces into a pile. She glanced at Weston as he walked back and forth carrying the heavy wooden boxes. “Everyone calls me Alex.” He paused, lifting an eyebrow. “Everyone?” “My father.” She hated to admit she really didn't know anyone on a personal level. “I see.” He continued with his job. “And your friends?” “I don't have any...that is to say most people don't appreciate a woman who is confident and speaks her mind.” “I see.” He grinned “In other words people see you as an oddball of sorts.” Arms akimbo she scowled at him. “You would work faster if you refrained from making ill-informed observations.” Again he grinned and headed for another box. The man is an arrogant rake. Imagine having the gall to...she sniffed...point out the obvious. She sighed and headed for the shelf of uncompleted and non-working inventions. Lovingly she touched each of her father's projects she had not the heart to toss out or try to get working on her own. Her fingers came away coated in dust and grime. She would crate them up and take them with her, rather than part with the reminder of him, she decided.
About the Author: I’m the mother of five, married 15 yrs to a retired dairy farmer and currently reside in Alberta on a beef farm. When I am not writing I like showing my thoroughbred stallion (nicknamed Love Monkey), gardening, camping, listening to my ipod (favorite song- 1985) and even playing a little guitar hero with the kids (sadly I am still on easy level). An interesting fact about me…well there’s lots but the one that relates most to writing is the fact that my husband and I knew each other for five months before we got married. Perhaps this is why I love Historical Romance. Marriages often began with two virtual strangers.Most memorable moments…auditioning for a spot on the Royal Lipizzaner Tour and getting to ride one of those gorgeous horses, and the acceptance email from Lea. Pet peeves… ornery computers and people who pronounce my name wrong.

Elixir is fantasy at its best. Katie Caroll draws us into her world with ease, her well-polished writing style and flow holding us captive until the end. I especially liked the relationship between Katora and her sister Kylene, obviously drawn from real life. I can't wait to read the sequel.
I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this very charming and witty book to read on the skytrain. But I have to say it was kind of embarrassing. I couldn't stop giggling out loud at Maggie Lyon's humour. People kept looking at me, and I tried my hardest to hold in the laughter, but it was impossible. What a delightful story! What child wouldn't love this. It's a story for 6-10 year olds. It's a great book to read to your children when they're young or by themselves when they're older. If your child likes Geronimo Stilton, they'll fall in love with Dewie the little dragon and his friend Jones the toad. I hope Maggie Lyons will turn this into a series.
Joy Smith pulled me into the story on the very first pages. Fast moving, first I hated Victor, than I love him, than I hated until I loved him. And Marisol with her guarded heart had me hoping throughout that she'd open it again to love.
I loved her descriptions. They created such visuals, I felt I was traveling and discovering Colombia with Victor.
Ms. Smith writes believable, flawed characters that I wound up cheering and caring for on each page. I can't wait to read her next book. Goodreads Reader Review - Five Stars

I really enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot of this novel. From Annabelle putting her life in danger when running away from Boarding School where she has lived since the age of five to her tenacious pursuit in finding clues as to her origins.
She is rescued by Roland, who is too much of a gentleman not to help the intriguing young lady. I relished the suspense of the reciprocal desire between Roland and Belle which is thwarted by misunderstanding after misunderstanding and prevents them achieving mutual fulfilment. The reader yearns for the truth to replace the false pretences and for Roland and Belle to overcome each other's prejudices.
Rosemary Morris' major and minor characters spring to life. I sympathised with Annabelle and found Roland charming. Apart from this, Rosemary's great attention to every aspect of the Regency era is impressive.
False Pretences is a ripping read and I look forward to reading this author's next novel. - F.Way- Amazon Review
