Book Six in The Adventures of Majestic Kane, Galactic P.I. A Short Story by P.J. Lawton Genre: Sci-Fi Action Adventure Mystery Release: March 23, 2012 Editor: Tanja Cilia Line Editor: Nancy Bell Cover Designer: Delilah K. Stephans Words: 5307 Pages: 20 ISBN: 978-1-77127-017-5 Price: $2.50 Warning: Graphic Violence Back Cover: A young Star Force warrior is supposedly killed in a training accident. His grieving mother wants answers but is being stonewalled by Star Force Command. She asks Galactic P.I. Majestic Kane for help. At first skeptical, but after hearing the story, Kane agrees, something just doesn’t sound right. He promises to get her some answers, and Kane always keeps his promise. Excerpt: Kane was about to re-enter his rented cart when a young female warrior walked past. Looking about, she gave Kane a slight sidewise head bob and bit her lower lip. He understood what she meant and followed her around the corner of the building out of the line of sight of the M.E. desk windows. “Sir, I heard you were here to investigate the death of Sergeant Jonas.” Kane nodded, and she continued. “Sergeant Jonas and I were friends, well, actually more than friends. I don’t believe his death was an accident.” Kane’s look was noncommittal. “Why do you say that?” “He felt something illicit was going on. He would not tell me what it was, but something was definitely bothering him.” “Is there anything else you can tell me, anything at all to back up your assertions?” “Well, the day of the accident I did see Ramon and Sergeant Tavera, the new Squad Leader, arguing. They were going at it hammer and tongs. As I walked up to them, they stopped abruptly, and Sergeant Tavera stormed away. I asked Ramon about it, he just shrugged it off and said he would take care of it. That was the last time I saw him alive.” Kane noticed her red-rimmed eyes. She loved him, probably more than she ever loved anyone else. Kane read the nametape on her uniform. “Private Sears, thank you for telling me this. I am sorry for your loss. Can you tell me where I might find Tavera?” “Sergeant Tavera just got off shift. I believe he and most of his squad members usually go to the Fitness Center after shift to work out. You will probably find him there.” Kane thanked her again, walked back to his rental, and headed for the Fitness Center. Maybe Tavera could shed some light on the situation. Tavera was working out on the exercise equipment at the Center. He was totally uncommunicative, admitting only he and Jonas had argued, but it wasn’t a big deal. It was simply a disagreement about work ethics, nothing more. That was all Kane was able to get out of him. Turning to leave, Kane noticed something. Tavera’s shoulder sported a distinctive, garish tattoo. It was a little red devil, below which was a large D with a smaller S inside. Kane started. He’d seen that tattoo before. Things just got a little more interesting.

Elixir is fantasy at its best. Katie Caroll draws us into her world with ease, her well-polished writing style and flow holding us captive until the end. I especially liked the relationship between Katora and her sister Kylene, obviously drawn from real life. I can't wait to read the sequel.
I was pleasantly surprised when I opened this very charming and witty book to read on the skytrain. But I have to say it was kind of embarrassing. I couldn't stop giggling out loud at Maggie Lyon's humour. People kept looking at me, and I tried my hardest to hold in the laughter, but it was impossible. What a delightful story! What child wouldn't love this. It's a story for 6-10 year olds. It's a great book to read to your children when they're young or by themselves when they're older. If your child likes Geronimo Stilton, they'll fall in love with Dewie the little dragon and his friend Jones the toad. I hope Maggie Lyons will turn this into a series.
Joy Smith pulled me into the story on the very first pages. Fast moving, first I hated Victor, than I love him, than I hated until I loved him. And Marisol with her guarded heart had me hoping throughout that she'd open it again to love.
I loved her descriptions. They created such visuals, I felt I was traveling and discovering Colombia with Victor.
Ms. Smith writes believable, flawed characters that I wound up cheering and caring for on each page. I can't wait to read her next book. Goodreads Reader Review - Five Stars

I really enjoyed the twists and turns of the plot of this novel. From Annabelle putting her life in danger when running away from Boarding School where she has lived since the age of five to her tenacious pursuit in finding clues as to her origins.
She is rescued by Roland, who is too much of a gentleman not to help the intriguing young lady. I relished the suspense of the reciprocal desire between Roland and Belle which is thwarted by misunderstanding after misunderstanding and prevents them achieving mutual fulfilment. The reader yearns for the truth to replace the false pretences and for Roland and Belle to overcome each other's prejudices.
Rosemary Morris' major and minor characters spring to life. I sympathised with Annabelle and found Roland charming. Apart from this, Rosemary's great attention to every aspect of the Regency era is impressive.
False Pretences is a ripping read and I look forward to reading this author's next novel. - F.Way- Amazon Review
